Last Saturday began like all saturdays...lazing on bed ..reluctant to get up. Then decided to do something over the long weekend, one was to visit Golden Temple, Narayani Peedam, Sripuram, near Vellore about 150 kms from Madras ( it will always be Madras to me). Drive of 2 1/2 hours. The place was packed with holiday pilgrims. Set amidst lush fields and surrounded by hillocks, the place exuded peace and serenity (except for the babble of human noise).
The Temple of Narayani Devi is built in Gold, on a 100 acre grounds. Its placed in the center of a red tiled sloping roof pentagram shaped open corridor. The grounds are landscaped ..most amazing landscape, i've seen in a long time..lush green lawns on undulating slopes, trees along the edges, well maintained & colourful flower beds, a small pond, granite lamps set in the grounds..a perfect background for the Temple in Gold.
Message boards placed all along the corridor, carrying Messages/ sayings of Sri Shakti Amman, Founder of the Mission/Narayani Peedam.
The temple is constructed in middle, surrounded with a water filled moat. The Gold sparkles in the late afternoon sun.........
